Cold Drawn Hex Bar
Cold drawn steel is processed at room temperature, and it typically produces an end product that is thin shaped. This process is ideal for long products such as structural parts and shafting. Because their processes are similar, cold drawn and cold rolled steel have similar benefits. Cold drawn hex steel bars do not change shape during processing, so the end product has predictable dimensions and shape. Because of the pressure required to force the steel to fit through the die, cold drawn steel has high-tensile strength and increased yield. Also, this process improves dimensional tolerances and enhances the physical properties of the hex steel bar.
To achieve the actual size and desired shape, cold drawn steel has to be drawn through different dies multiple times. While this leads to higher production costs, it also results in a polished, smoother finish. This makes cold drawn steel highly desirable for consumer products that require an aesthetically pleasing finish.
Hex
Bar Applications:
Cold
drawn hex steel bars are long, hexagon-shaped (six-sided) rods with sharp edges
and corners. These weight-bearing bars are known for their strength, hardness,
and excellent wear resistance. Cold drawn hex steel bars are characterized by
their enhanced mechanical properties and tight dimensional tolerances, which
makes the ideal for multiple applications, fabrication, manufacturing, and
repairs.
In general, hex steel bars are desirable materials for construction and structural support applications. Because hex steel bars fill a plane with equal size units without leaving any wasted space, they are very well suited for component-producing applications.
Because of its excellent machinability and strength, cold drawn hex steel bars are used for various applications, including:
Washers, Nuts, Bolts, Fittings, Screws, Wall Mount, Pins, Rods, Spindles, Shafts, Sprocket Assemblies, Component Parts, Valves, Flanges, Pipes, Fixture Clamps, Spacers, Axles, Shafts, Tooling, Hardware
Automotive, Power Generation, Construction, General Fabrication, Aerospace, Chemical Processing, Food Processing, Medical, Oil and Gas, Marine, Outdoor Furniture, Water Treatment
Advantages:
The cold-drawn process involves hot rolled bars or hot rolled steel coils being brought down to room temperature. Once the steel reaches room temperature, it is then hammered and rolled to ensure it fits through a die. It is then pulled through the die to reshape it into a thinner shape without altering the volume. Cold drawn steel does not change shape during processing, so the finished product has a predictable thickness and shape.
