Are fishplates and rail joint the same product?

Recently, I often receive clients' inquiries about whether fishplates and rail joint are the same product or what is the difference. To be honest, since there is a distinction between splints or fishplates, they will certainly be different. The same point: they are the main fittings for rail connection and are used together with fishtail bolts. ductile iron and Q235 hot rolling are two materials, but now ductile iron is basically replaced by hot rolling. Due to different regions and customs, the appellations are also varied. The general appellations are as follows: rail joint, fishplate, splint, track splint, rail splint, rail clamp, etc.

The number of holes is different.  Fishplate has 6 holes and track clamp only has 4 holes. According to different rail types, the joint on heavy rail is generally called fishplate, and the joint used for light rail is called rail joint.
