How to distinguish between light rail and heavy rail?

As we know, light rail and heavy rail is different, but many people don’t know how to distinguish the both. Now, let me tell you the difference about them.

Steel rail can be divided into two types, one is light rail and another is heavy rail. Light rail is the rail that the weigh less than or equal to 30kg per meter. Heavy rail is the weigh more than 30kg/m. This is the biggest difference about them. On the other hand, the parameter is also different, such as, bottom width, head width, web thickness and theoretical weight. Bearing capacity is very important to heavy rail ,because it always used in railway line.

There are many models of light rail, 6kg/m, 8kg/m, 12kg/m and so on. The models of heavy rail is 38kg/m, 43kg/m, 50kg/m and so on. You can distinguish them from the models.
