Henan ZongXiang Heavy Industry Group, a leading Chinese manufacturer specializing in steel rails and railway accessories, has successfully completed the export of a major batch of QU120 crane rails to Malaysia. The shipment, totaling approximately 500 tons, departed from Qingdao Port in early November 2025 and is expected to arrive at Port Klang by the end of the month.
QU120 crane rail (also known as CR120 or A120 in some international standards) is a high-strength flat-bottom rail widely used in heavy-duty overhead cranes, gantry cranes, port cranes, and industrial loading systems. With a weight of 120 kg per meter and manufactured according to Chinese national standard YB/T 5055-2023, the QU120 rail offers excellent wear resistance, high load-bearing capacity, and superior stability, making it particularly suitable for Malaysia’s rapidly expanding port, logistics, and manufacturing sectors.
This order came from a leading Malaysian engineering and construction group that is currently undertaking several large-scale infrastructure projects, including port expansion in Johor and Penang, as well as new industrial park developments in Selangor. The client specifically required QU120 rails made of U71Mn high-carbon manganese steel with a tensile strength exceeding 880 MPa and strict dimensional tolerances to ensure seamless compatibility with European-standard crane wheels and clamping systems.
Mr. Li Wei, Export Director of ZongXiang Heavy Industry, stated: “Malaysia is one of the most important markets for us in Southeast Asia. Over the past five years, we have supplied more than 3,000 tons of various crane rails and railway materials to Malaysian customers. This 500-ton QU120 order once again proves that Chinese-manufactured high-quality steel rails fully meet international heavy industry standards and can compete favorably with European and Japanese products in both performance and cost-effectiveness.”
To ensure product quality, ZongXiang implemented 100% ultrasonic flaw detection and surface hardness testing during production. Each rail is marked with heat number, production date, and specification for full traceability. The company also provided third-party inspection by SGS before shipment, with all results meeting or exceeding the contractual requirements.
The successful delivery of this batch not only further consolidates ZongXiang’s leading position in the Southeast Asian crane rail market but also reflects the deepening industrial cooperation between China and Malaysia under the Belt and Road Initiative. As Malaysia continues to promote the “East Coast Rail Link (ECRL)” and various port upgrading projects, demand for high-standard crane rails and track materials is expected to maintain strong growth.
ZongXiang Heavy Industry stated that it will continue to expand its production capacity of QU70, QU80, QU100, and QU120 series crane rails while enhancing customized processing capabilities (drilling, cutting to length, anti-corrosion coating, etc.) to better serve global customers.
This export is another vivid example of Chinese steel enterprises moving toward high-end manufacturing and international markets, contributing practical strength to Malaysia’s infrastructure modernization and economic development.
