25 tons 30lbs steel rail delivered to Chile

We have sent 24.8 tons 30lbs steel rail to Arica by one 20GP container. The total meter is 1710 meters, with 6m/pc. And the total is 285 pcs.

Our customer is from Chile. He was looking for a batch of 30lbs rails for his factory. We asked him about the quantity and the specification. First, he calculated the rail he needs is about 1600m. Because the 6 m length rail is the main length carried into container, we recommended him 30lbs steel rail with 6m per pc. And we confirmed him with the parameter of 30 lbs rail. The height is 79.37 mm (3.1/8’’), the head is 42.86mm (1.11/16’’), the base is 79.37mm (3.1/9’’), and the web is 8.33mm (21/64’’). The customer said these parameters are OK. And We introduced two kind of steel grade: q235 and 55q. q235 and 55q are two material. The difference is the carbon content and chemical composition. 55q is more harder. The steel rail made of 55Q material has more stable performance, commonly used in mining, factory, forest and urban transportation track road. There is also one thing need attention. The theoretical weight of 30lbs rail is 15.2 kg/m. But the actual weight is 14.5 kg/m.

So our steel rails can meet customer’s need. The next thing requires negotiation is the price. Our client has little idea about payment method. We introduce him CIF and FOB. Under the item of CIF?cost, insurance and freight) and CFR(cost and freight), the seller transports the goods to the port of destination designated by the buyer to complete the delivery. And the buyer is responsible for customs duties, and miscellaneous charges from the port of destination and the shipping company. The steel rail industry is special. We need pay full before the steel rail are out of steel factory. So the payment method should be CIF. And we also calculated the freight fee and insurance to Arica by one GP container. The customers asked for discount. Our industry is low-profit. The price we give is already the best we can give. But for our clients, our sales tried her best to apply the steel factory for the discount. Finally, we negotiated a price that both satisfies.
